Wet pawns

This falls within the category of sad humour. If is fun when you think about the value of the pawn in chess, and sad when you think about what happens in real life. A world in which the better-off can be covered whereas at the same time the poor and week find no place to protect themselves from the metaphorical rain.

Any suspects?

I came across this at here at 9Gag. A nice crime set after the King has been murdered. Whodunnit?

China - USA relations

I copied this image but I don't remember the place. Thanks to anybody who can provide credit to the author. The caricature was made taking advantage of the visit of premier Hu Jintao to the USA in January 2011. It is true that many times Western and Asian people think using different frames of mind, and that's why we have here a board half of which is international chess being the other half Chiness chess or Xiangqi, a game that I recommend to everybody interested in chess.

Hello, I am a chess robot

This image is taken from the 1989 book "Hello, I am a robot", published in the Soviet Union. I discovered it here. I think in the 1980s we all used to imagine the future as somehow more mechanical instead of cybernetic as it ended up being.

Quino's chessboxing

I think this drawing by the Argentinian Quino - Mafalda's father - was fun just because at the time of its publication nobody would have believed that chessboxing will become a real sport.
